Public Relations Manager - Professional Bull Riders (Pueblo, CO)

Position Summary/Objective:

The Public Relations Manager works as part of the Public Relations team to ensure the PBR creates and executes timely and effective public relations plans and initiatives. The manager assists in the development of a public/media relations plan that supports the organizational goal of positioning bull riding as a prominent sports and entertainment event.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

·        Arrange and organize event media relations, including media day schedules and materials, rider appearances and interviews

·        Develop and execute promotional activities for events, in tandem with the Sponsorship Promotions Manager and Marketing Manager

·        Research and propose new public relations and promotions concepts

·        Write and edit a variety of materials, including website content; press releases; video news release shot sheets; satellite feeds; press kit information; etc.

·        Assist in the development and production of annual media guide and other materials as assigned

·        Update and maintain rider profiles and contact information

·        Cold call media outlets to arrange interviews, appearances, and other media exposure for the PBR

·        Brief entire public relations and marketing department personnel on assigned event’s activities and provide a working schedule for each event

·        Maintain and distribute via fax, email and phone press release broadcasts list

·        Post press releases and media information to the web site as appropriate

·        Respond to, or direct, media inquiries as appropriate, in a timely fashion

·        Manage additional media or public relations functions as requested

·        Proactively pursue national media mentions for the PBR

·        Assist PR/Marketing team members and other PBR employees as needed

·        Travel to PBR events as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

•     Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal and presentation) are required
•     Creativity, time and project management skills
•     Ability to work under deadline pressure and manage change
•     Working knowledge of Associated Press Style Guide
•     Proficiency using MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Power Point)

  • Bilingual in Portuguese highly preferred

Education & Formal Training:

·        Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in a related field

Experience:

·        2 – 4 years’ experience in Marketing/Public Relations

Working Conditions:

  • ·     Normal office hours Monday-Friday
  • •     Travel, extended hours, and weekends may be required
  • •     Ability to travel extensively (to PBR events and related meetings)
  • •     Lift twenty-five (25) lbs; climb stairs
  • •     Work in a standing posture for multiple hours

PR / Social Media Manager - Velocity Tour - Professional Bull Riders Headquarters (Pueblo, CO)

The PR & Social Media Manager will be responsible for managing and implementing PR and social initiatives, under the direction of the SR Director of Marketing. He/she will work with both external resources (freelance writers, videographers, graphic designers and social influencers) and internal team members to develop public/media relations plans and help communicate and amplify the organization’s key messages on various topics via social channels.

This individual must have or be interested in developing a passion for and comprehensive understanding of sports and/or the professional bull riding landscape. A passion for pop-culture, entertainment and the ability to excite consumers through social media channels are essential.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

·        Develop and Execute Complete PR campaigns for up to 50 event markets annually.

·        Arrange and organize event media relations, including media day schedules and materials, rider appearances and interviews

·        Organize and Track Event PR Campaigns in a proficient manner with a structured plan

·        Write and edit a variety of materials, including website content; press releases; video news release shot sheets; satellite feeds; press kit information; etc.

·        Assist in the development and production of annual media guide and other materials as assigned

·        Update and maintain rider profiles and contact information

·        Cold call media outlets to arrange interviews, appearances, and other media exposure for the PBR

·        Travel to every PBR RVT event as assigned Help create content for and manage the day-to-day needs of PBR across social properties.

  • Manage all aspects of multiple social media accounts, including community development and content creation.
  • Create sharp, entertaining content (including but not limited to blog posts, newsletters, Facebook posts, Tweets, GIFs, Snaps, images and short format videos) which engage the PBR audience across social channels.
  • Assist in the development of a distinct, recognizable and unique voice for the PBR RVT that speaks effortlessly to the target audience, creating a rapport that builds community. 
  • Monitor, recognize and implement ongoing improvements to workflow and output of each channel.
  • Collaborate with Editorial Manager, Digital Marketing Manager, freelance content creators and website management team to deliver a successful social strategy that aligns with the overall digital and brand strategy; activities may include concepting, producing, writing, uploading, formatting, scheduling and publishing content daily.
  • Serve as back-up for website updates/maintenance, including writing, editing and posting content.
  • Monitor best practices and trends in organic and branded social media.
  • Evaluate and interpret performance analytics for the purposes of designing fan/follower growth strategies and engagement level improvements.
  • Works with the Digital Revenue team to produce engaging paid social content for PBR and its partners

Qualifications:

  • At least 2-3 years’ experience creating and managing digital content at either a professional sports team, entertainment property or brand.
  • Complete understanding or capacity to gain a complete understanding of the professional bull riding landscape.
  • Proficient understanding of how all social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snap Chat, Pinterest, and Tumblr) and their communities work, including emerging platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing cutting edge creative campaigns, with an emphasis on innovation, and writing premium quality content.
  • Thinks creatively and develops innovative social strategies to increase engagement and fan/follower growth.
  • Strong visual eye with regard to the creation of graphics and selection of images for social publishing.
  • Creative and strategic in nature with the ability to think outside the box and articulate “big ideas”.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written presentation and communication skills.
  • Willingness to cover and travel to all PBR RVT events.

Education & Formal Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree – Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, Informatics and or Business

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office hours Monday-Friday, non-event months

Weekend work during event season; evenings during event season
